The Sound of Navajo Country: Conversation and Live Music On Women's Focus

Women's Focus Sat. 3/25, 12p: Carol Boss welcome Kristina Jacobsen, a musician and assistant professor at UNM, who examines questions of Indigenous identity and performance in her new book which focuses on the vibrant Navajo country music scene. Two of the women featured, ChuckiBegay and Candice Craig, join us for conversation and live music.

Kristina is an assistant professor of music and ethnology.  She also co-facilitates the UNM honky-tonk ensemble, is a touring singer/songwriter and fronts the all-girl honky-tonk band, the Merlettes.

Carol will also talk with lesbian comedian Dana Goldberg who was born and raised in Albuquerque and now lives in California and tours and performs all over. Her comedy is hilarious and often topical, and no doubt one of the conversations will focus on being funny in this post-election world.
